Toeisha was founded in 1955 by Mr. Umeji Utsubo, the manager of the Maruto Bike Factory, which at the time had a reputation for making sport bikes, and a researcher of European sport bikes, in the area where motorbike shops now line Showa-dori Street, not far from Ueno Station.
Toeisha specialised in the production of sports bikes from the very beginning, and thus came to the attention of industry insiders from that time. The workshop was established in Ueno and later moved to Machiya, Urawa and Kawaguchi.
Although the workshop and craftsmen have changed over the years, Toeisha's expertise has been passed down from generation to generation, and even today, more than 50 years after the company was founded, the company's specialty is the sporty touring bike, which is favoured by many cyclists and amateur cyclists. The company's technical skills are exceptional, especially in the time-consuming and delicate specialised trades, and today it is one of the very few companies in the world that manufactures sports cars.
